Two major business divisions were located only half-a-mile from one another. However, in terms of culture they might have been from two planets. The solution: a cultural integration intervention.

Two Cultures: Half-a-Mile Apart
A high-tech, entrepreneurial
company was growing rapidly. But four years after start-up, the
President noticed he was really running two companies. Operations
and Customer Service divisions -- located within walking distance
-- had developed two distinct cultures. The differences were unproductive
and harmful to overall customer satisfaction.
Innolect Associates were engaged to achieve greater Connectivity
– integrating and aligning the two cultures. The first task was
executive coaching to help the President develop key messages about
the desired culture and outline an integration process for review
by the leadership team.
To prepare for integration, innolect Associates conducted two “culture
audits”, one in each location. The audits were used to design a
two-day, all-hands Integration Session to:
- Introduce positive aspects and abandon negative aspects of each culture
- Profile the integrated culture
- Develop an implementation plan
Results. Attitude, energy and interaction levels were high during the Integration Session. The integration plan was implemented, and a unified culture was achieved.
